It started at a service counter.

You are handed a list of recommended work, and you cannot say which of these was already done. Maintano is the record we wished we had that day.

The counter

The advisor slides the list across. Cabin filter. Brake fluid. A coolant flush. A transmission service that sounds expensive. Some of these were done last year, at another shop, you are fairly sure. Which ones? Nothing was written down, and the receipts are in a drawer at home.

So you nod at the ones that sound familiar, and pay for one or two that may have been done already.

That is where Maintano started. Not with a love of cars. With the wish for a record that is with you at the counter: every service, when, where, what it cost, with the receipt attached. On your phone, so it is there when the question comes. In your account too, if you want it to outlive the phone.

What does it actually need?

The same person knows one interval. Oil every ten thousand kilometres. Nothing else, and no idea whether the shop's list is the manufacturer's or the shop's.

We tried to buy the answer. Manufacturers' schedules are sold by the lookup, so we tested the vendors on real vehicles. The data came back wrong, with basic services missing on a common SUV, and it covered vehicles sold in the United States only, for an app that is used everywhere.

So we wrote it ourselves: a list of the services a vehicle of that kind needs, grouped the way a shop thinks, and the typical intervals for them, offered as reminders when you add a vehicle. Keep the ones that apply, skip the rest, and check your owner's manual for the exact numbers for yours. It is bundled with the app and free for everyone, road vehicles first.

What it earns, next to what it costs

Talking with people who drive for a living, rideshare and delivery drivers mostly, added a question we had not asked: not only what the vehicle costs, but what it brings in. A day's rides next to the fuel, the tires, the brakes.

So income is an entry too, and Reports puts the two side by side: what came in, what went out, and what is left per kilometre. A basic picture of money in and out. Nothing more than that, and nothing you would hand to an accountant.

Ask the AI you already use

Everyone now has an assistant in their pocket, and the useful question is "should I change the oil?" with the history in front of it, not a guess from the make and model.

Maintano runs no AI of its own. Tap the sparkles on a vehicle and its records leave as one readable file, to whichever assistant you already use: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or the one you prefer next year. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it, and we never see the conversation.

What we promise

Not values. Things the app already does, written down so you can hold us to them.

  • Export is free and never gated. Your records leave as CSV and PDF on every plan, any time.
  • Nothing is deleted when a subscription lapses. Your records stay on your device, readable. The cloud copy is kept twelve months from the day the subscription ends, then deleted.
  • No ads. No tracking across other apps. No data sold. The free app needs no account and uploads nothing.
  • Ask AI sends nothing unless you choose to, and it goes to your assistant, not to us.

Will it still be here?

A fair question before you trust an app with years of records. We answer it with what you can check, not with how big we are.

  • It ships. A new version every few weeks since launch, each one with its release notes published in News, the same notes you see in the app.
  • It answers. The contact page reaches a person, and every message gets a reply.
  • It is independent. Maintano has no investors. It is paid for by Pro subscriptions, so no one outside can buy it and switch it off.

Tell us what's missing

We build Maintano by listening. The income entries began that way, in conversations with drivers who needed to see what their car earned next to what it cost. If you're looking for something the app doesn't do yet, a vehicle we don't cover, a report that would save you an evening, a reminder that should work differently, tell us. Write to support@maintano.app or use the contact page.

Why we do this

Every vehicle should carry its own history, and that history should belong to the person who owns the vehicle.
